How to Become a Green Consumer


Environmental topics should not only be discussed at political level. As an individual consumer you can contribute a lot to a more green environment. And it also saves a lot of money as green has become a cost saver. There are so many products and solutions available that everybody can become more green. Let 2010 become the year to switch mindset and look for green products and solutions first and safe a lot of costs. Below a list to get started easily as a green consumer.

Steps

  1. Switch your mindset. Environmental control (climate control) is not a topic for governments only as the contribution of every consumer really counts.
  2. Save energy consumption at home and at work. This should become a daily routine (energy saving (LED) lamps etc).
  3. Include Green as criteria in your private and work decisions. Next to price, quality and service make green a criteria (eg. green electricity).
  4. If you purchase appliances, check the energy label.
  5. Check if solar products can be bought as alternative to traditional products.
  6. Learn how to built your own solar panel.
  7. Purchase a hybrid or electrical car. There are far more cars available then you would imagine. Often, governments support this purchase with lower taxes, or other incentives.
